25 Oct Top Of The World To Crashing Down
He was out of control. He didn’t care though; he was on top of the world. He had love, money, homes, a career, and friends. He had everything he wanted or so he thought.
It didn’t start off that way, at first. He only tried it once and that was all that was needed to get him hooked. The high made him feel like he’s never felt before and he loved it. He liked it up there, he felt invincible and powerful. It made him forget the pain that has been staring back at him since childhood.
The more he took the more he needed and it controlled him, it was now a daily need and not a want. The higher he went up, the harder he crashed. The fall was excruciating and got worse every time. The pain and depression from coming down hit him harder and harder each time. It was more than he could handle so he stayed high. He wanted to crawl out of his skin, he was so tired but couldn’t sleep and there was a constant ringing in his ears and it drove him mad. He wanted it to stop.
One night he found himself walking aimlessly. He came upon a bridge and suddenly the noises stopped. He closed his eyes and a calmness he hadn’t felt in a long time came over him. The ringing stopped and he could hear his heart beat. He looked down at the hypnotizing water and knew what he was going to do. He imagined it to be alarmingly cold, but he didn’t care.
“Hey your not thinking of jumping are you? Don’t be stupid, get down, there are people who love you, now smarten up and go home.”
The words he will never forget for as long as he LIVES, because, they are the words that pulled him back at the last second. After he heard her, he got down off that ledge; the words from the woman who cared enough to say something shook him. She was right, he thought to himself, his mom would be devastated and that in it self was enough for him to realize he needed to get help and that’s exactly what he did. He decided to get himself back to who he was before he lost himself…
