SURVIVORSHIP IS THE JOURNEY! When people find out that I have Brain Cancer…they say, “You don’t look like you have Brain Cancer!” And sometimes I say “Good…What does a Brain Cancer patient look like?”

When my doc at Memorial Sloan Kettering told me I had a 3-5 year life expectancy I looked her right in the eye and said, “So what you’re saying is that I can expect more life.” And have I had a life! An amazingly amazing life since cancer moved in.

Sept 2, 2006 I went from being a married, career driven Mom…to a Brain Cancer, paralyzed, single, disabled Mom in one month. 4 Months later I Co-Founded the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance. In the last 6 1/2 years (yes that’s right….6 1/2!) My organization has raised over 1 million dollars for Brain Cancer patients, funded promising research at Yale which will start clinical trials in a few months, walkin’ in heels again and am a newlywed to the most amazing man I have ever met!

I tell my story to every patient and caregiver I meet. We all have a choice when we hear the words “Life Expectancy”…I say EXPECT MORE LIFE!
